I seem to be on a lace kick.  So much the better – I don’t have to worry about it “fitting”!

This is lace project #3, concurrent with #2 (which is the Goddess Mystery KAL…plodding away on Clue #4 – that one will take some serious time).

No mistakes!  Yarn is Knit Picks Gloss (Wool/Silk) and size 8 lime green AB beads.

Over the weekend, I knat a hat from some handspun Romney.  I do believe that once I get through all of my commercial knitting yarn, I doubt I’ll be buying more of it.  I’m totally sold on knitting with my own yarn.  I’m getting to be a "good enough" spinner that I can produce a small project’s amount of consistent yardage that I can make something worth selling or wearing in public.  Or, at least, posting pictures of on the intarwebs. ;)

This is about 75 grams of Romney roving purchased from Fleecemaker’s Fibers on Etsy.  I kettle dyed it with vermillion and purple Jacquard dyes, then spun it up to a 2-ply worsted/aran weight yarn.  I don’t know how many yards I got, but it was plenty for this hat and a couple Weave-It squares.

The hat is a very basic affair; similar patterns online include Ellen’s Knit Hat and Mielke’s Basic Hat Formula .

Cabletini Socks

Pattern: Cabletini by Wendy Knits

Yarn: Knit Picks Risata, “Ash”

Mods: 7.5 sts per inch, 3″ cuff, i-cord bind off

I’m working on one of those “oh that’s pretty” startitis sock patterns. I’m using a new-to-me yarn, Risata. The label says 7 sts per inch on size US 2 needles. I’m getting 7.25 sts per inch on 3mm (which is Knit Pick’s first idea of a size US 2, but is more like a 2.5, but I digress).

Revelation #1: Socks progress much faster at ~7 sts per inch vs 9 or 10 sts per inch.

Revelation #2: I like tighter fitting socks. This means smaller socks. Even faster to knit, and more possibilities with “as written” pattern knitting.

Revelation #3: Sock yarn does count as stash. Seriously.

All hail the mighty Jaywalker!

Ok, maybe not that big of a feat, but this is the first sock I have completed that was intended for myself knit in fingering weight yarn. It took me months, it seems, but I finally got’r done. Plus, it fits better than any I’ve attempted before.

Anywho, this is sock numero uno.
